Embracing the Margins

In this episode of Embracing the Margins, Drs. Price and Badriaki examine the humanitarian crisis in Haiti caused by the recent earthquake and look back to the previous international relief response to a similar Haitian crisis in 2010. What is the best way for Christians to partner and help with the relief effort, and what lessons can we learn from the past?

Drs. Badriaki and Price grapple with the developing crisis in Afghanistan and the questions it raises for the Church as the Taliban resumes power. What are the roots to the original American intervention and do the motivations square with Christianity? How does such Western intervention collide with issues of culture, race, and stereotypes, and most importantly, what action should concerned Christians take?

What prevents Christians from effectively fighting poverty? In this episode, Drs. Badriaki and Price explore the problem of self-centeredness and how ethnocentric (and invidualized) thought patterns are destructive to poverty alleviation partnerships and helping strategies. They also answer the question of how to effectively counter such barriers to foster vibrant missional generosity.
